Mechanical Engineer V

 

Summary:

This is a senior level position. An Engineer in this position is expected to have a great deal of experience to draw on. They are a key contributor in development. They are expected to lead and mentor other Engineers. They will be asked to both manage and assist others in development projects, sometimes concurrently.

Responsibilities

 

 

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • Key contributor to system specifications, design, debug, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
  • Manage multi-discipline development projects from concepts through end of life. Expected to be system expert after development to assist in field questions, manufacturing issues, and future enhancements.
  • Mentor junior Mechanical Engineers.
  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as motors, instruments, controls, robots, machines etc.
  • Will be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and/or repair of mechanical products
  • Proficient in creating and modifying assembly and system level CAD models.
  • Able to create detail drawings, bills of material, assembly drawings, and assembly procedures.
  • Able to write assembly, service, and test procedures
  • Able to design, perform, and document engineering tests.
  • Uses analytical expertise to translate general high level system requirements into specific subsystem performance requirements.
  • Adept at performing engineering calculations for stress, strain, force, torque, tolerancing power, thermal, and fluid flow problems creating appropriate models to be analyzed. Able to assist other Engineers with the same.
  • Familiar with common and some specialized processes for manufacturing mechanical components.
  • Possess enough cross functional skills to communicate effectively with software, and electrical engineers.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Reports to Director of Hardware Development
  • Some international travel required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in designing mechanical assemblies and systems in areas that are directly or indirectly related to the following:

O Robotics

O Automation

O Optics

O Semiconductor Equipment

  • BS degree, MS degree preferred, in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years related experience.
