Overview

Overview - The primary responsibility of this job is to plan and manage the configuration of documentation associated with developing and manufacturing products throughout the product life cycle. 

  • Drive the timely release and change of documentation according to project schedules through the interaction with documentation authors and approvers (from many levels of the organization). 
  • The role is responsible for ensuring that accurate, accessible technical records are maintained and for making relevant documentation available to internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Execute the creation, approval, and release of engineering documents. 
  • Communicate the status of documentation and its configuration to engineers and product group owners.
  • Support multiple development/manufacturing projects simultaneously
  • Required to organize complex data and quickly act on information/data as it comes available.
  • Analyzes situations within defined business procedures and practices for finding configuration management solutions to problems of moderate scope.

 

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Drive and facilitate the timely change, approval and release of documentation according to project schedules.
  • Perform all aspects of complex engineering changes:
    • ECN/ECO processing
    • Bill of material changes
    • ERP/MRP input
    • Document checking and archiving 
  • Monitor configuration management process effectiveness including the impact of changes.
  • Recommend configuration management process improvements. 
  • Process internal-customer change requests
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Create and improve procedures, forms and training manuals
  • Maintain data hub between Engineering, Sales, Program Management, Quality, Purchasing, and Manufacturing
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications - (Mandatory skills for the job)

  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Organizational skills needed to plan and manage documents and their configurations
  • Experience with and a working understanding of ERP/MRP systems
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office
  • Customer service driven
  • Associates Degree or comparable on the job experience
  • 2 years experience with a configuration and change management role
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP and PDM/PLM tool (e.g. SAP, Epicor, Windchill)
  • Work with internal customers and suppliers to investigate problems and provide solutions

 

Desired Qualifications - (Preferred but not mandatory skills)

  • Understanding of Change Control Boards
  • Understanding of Sales Configurator
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Operations discipline
  • Configuration Management Institute (CMII) Certification (CMII B, CMII C, or CMII A desirable)
  • Knowledge of industry standards
  • Experience with global systems/processes
  • Knowledge of inventory control and material-planning principals
  • Knowledge of IMDS requirements (International Material Data System)
  • Able to establish requirements and drive for results
  • Aware of effects on others
  • Able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely
  • Remains calm, open minded and customer focused under pressure
  • Able to embrace change
  • Demonstrates personal integrity in all interactions
  • Challenges self to achieve higher personal goals
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects without direct supervision
  • Identifies opportunities and contributes toward team success
  • Certified internal auditor of documentation systems such as Quality Management Systems is desirable (ISO 9001:2015)

Eligibility Requirements –

  • Willingness to travel 5% of the time

 

Education: (Please indicate any certifications as well)

2-year business degree or equivalent

 

Knowledge: (specific knowledge needed to do the job)

Knowledge of ERP/MRP and PDM/PLM systems and the data entry of part numbers

Knowledge of Product Life Cycle

Creation of Bill of Materials from the bottom level to the top level

Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

 

 

Experience: (include how many years, what type of background, industry etc.)

1-3 years experience in the Manufacture and Development of product including creation of Bill of Materials and ECN/ECO processing.
