Overview

Senior Production Planner & Buyer

 

This position supports the on-time manufacturing of a new product development program, leading to a new product introduction and roll-out. Immediate duties are centered about MRP entry of new ECOs, production planning, procurement, shortage tracking and resolution. As the new product is released into production, this role is expected to expand into planning and materials oversight of the broader set of Rudolph's products and offerings.

Responsibilities

 

  • Create and maintain a Production Schedule in support of the Master Schedule
  • Create manufacturing dispatch lists based on MRP delivery dates
  • Create and issue manufacturing work orders
  • Create and maintain Production Orders in support of the Production Schedule that accurately allocates the required materials
  • Review MRP procurement messages daily to understand material needs driven by the production plan and inventory demand
  • Create purchase orders and route for approvals as necessary. Then forward to suppliers along with supporting documentation such as drawings, specifications, technical requirements, etc.
  • Follow up with suppliers to obtain confirmation on pricing, delivery, and ensure technical understanding and capability
  • Ensure material availability to the production line by shortage tracking and expediting
  • Effectively plan and implement ECR/ECO activities in a manner that minimizes the costs associated with scrap, rework, and line disruptions
  • Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices, delivery dates, delays, damages and rejections
  • Maintain strong, objective supplier relationships that promote a true win-win business partnership between RTEC and the supplier base
  • Participate in on/off-site supplier audits and evaluations.
  • Ensure that master drawing files and history files are accurate and current and that effective control is maintained over drawings and other document records 
  • Participate on project teams involved in current product enhancement and new product development

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience:  

  • BS Degree in business administration or related field
  • 5 years of experience
  • APICS Certification

 

 Knowledge:

  • Must have working knowledge of ERP Systems, standard business practices, and production scheduling methodology
  • An aptitude for technical product configuration, dates, numbers and attention to detail
  • A thorough working knowledge of inventory procurement in an ERP/MRP environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of external controls such as CE!, EOL, EICC, ISO
  • Working knowledge of Epicor and SAP a plus

 

Skills:

  • Must have strong written, voice and electronic communication skills
  • Effective negotiating skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
