Seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience and/or desire to work with optical-mechanical assemblies in advanced laser-based metrology systems. As a MFG Engineer you will be responsible for the advancement of the product lines through continuous improvements considering manufacturability, serviceability, and cost. You will also work closely with the design engineering teams to validate and provide suggestions on new product development.



  • Works with Manufacturing Technicians and Field Service Engineers on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships.


  • Through multiple CAD applications (P, SolidWorks, ACAD), design and validate improvements and new designs to include developing test plans and performing complex analysis related to mechanical and optical specifications.


  • Work with technical documentation, including CAD models, Optical spec requirements, bills of material, drawings, assembly and work instructions, schematics, etc...


  • Participate in product development projects and New Product Introduction and then lead FMEA’s and Manufacturing Readiness Reviews supporting development and transition to production of those products.  Primary manufacturing liaison to Engineering, Purchasing and peers for Thin Film Metrology products.


  • Interfaces with Engineering and Purchasing to: identify and validate replacements for obsolete parts, make-buy decisions, and vendor selection; provide manufacturability design inputs to product/CAP projects; refine BOM structures for manufacturability; generate, review and approve ECN’s for design changes to existing products. Implements Labor and Lead-Time reductions through manufacturability improvements and fixturing.




  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Physics with 1-3 years related experience in mechanical design or manufacturing engineering.


  • Reading/Writing: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documentation, business and technical reports and metrics, Microsoft Office, FileMaker reports and transactions. Ability to verbally/electronically respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, suppliers and peers. Ability to effectively present information to customers, management, engineering, manufacturing and peers.


  • Competency with CAD system required – ACAD, SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer


  • ERP systems exposure, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment.
