    We are currently seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for executing the procurement process for assigned commodities and services. Specifically, the main objective is to communicate with RTEC’s supplier base to ensure delivery of top quality materials and services in support of RTEC’s production plan, at a competitive price, and with the highest levels of service.

    Responsibilities

    • Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions.
    • Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.
    • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
    • Works closely with Engineering on developing sourcing alternatives relative to New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
    • Participate on teams involved in product enhancement.
    • Contact, advise, and assist departments with respect to specifications, substitutions, delivery dates, and supply sources.
    • Resolves discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices, delivery dates, delays, damages and rejections.
    • Utilize problem solving tools to improve procedures and communications with internal/external customers and suppliers.
    • Manage inventory levels of commodities to ensure maximum turns while maintaining a consistent source of supply.
    • Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise wide systems.
    • Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment and services).
    • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
    • Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
    • May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.
    • Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
    • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
    • Requires domestic and/or global expertise of assigned commodities.

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of Supply Chain experience.
    • Must be flexible with workload, and must be able to organize time to work with all of the other Business Segments.
    • Understand and adapt to worldwide geo-political, industry technology and weather events that impact the costs and sources of supply.
    • Maintain strong, objective supplier relationships that promote a true win-win business partnership between RTEC and the supplier base.
    • Participate in on/off-site supplier audits and evaluations. Make recommendations regarding supplier performance and retention.
    • Associates degree in business, purchasing, supply chain management or a related field or one year purchasing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • A thorough working knowledge of inventory procurement in an ERP/MRP environment.  SAP experience preferred.
    • Working knowledge of external controls such as CE!, EOL, EICC, ISO, and Sarbanes-Oxley and internal controls set by Rudolph Technology.
    • Knowledge of how to administer contracts and agreements with suppliers.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    • Must have strong written, voice and electronic communication skills.
    • Ability to work with all groups within the organization and out in the field.
    • Effective negotiating skills.
    • Strong sense of urgency and can-do attitude.
