    Rudolph Technologies, Inc. is a worldwide leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of process control equipment and data analysis systems and software used by microelectronic device manufacturers worldwide.

    We are looking for a Senior Optical Designer to join our Core Technology Group. As the Senior Optical Designer will be responsible for a broad range of optical designs including microscope optics, optical sensors and illumination projecting lens systems for lithography. You will also  focus on developing new optical system solutions to address our customers’ requirements.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Derive optical specifications from system performance requirements.
    • Analyze custom versus off-the-shelf components trade-off to drive design decisions.
    • Perform optical design using Optical Design Software (Zemax) or other methods as well as tolerance analysis for manufacturability.
    • Work with vendors on design, tolerance analysis, prototypes, evaluation, testing and manufacturing support.
    • Define necessary calibrations and optical alignment schemes.
    • Evaluate system optical performance through design and execution of experiments both in labs and on tools.
    • Help to define requirement boundaries for other sub-system groups (Mechanics, Electronics, Control and Software)
    • Assist in New Product Introduction and Supply Chain Management process.
    • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and customer service.
    • Limited domestic and international travel.

    Qualifications

    • Postgraduate degree in Optical Design.
    • Minimum 10-year optical engineering and design experience. Well versed in optical standards.
    • Expert level of experience with Zemax or equivalent optical design software.
    • Code V experience is a plus.
    • Broad design experience in IR, visible and UV spectral ranges.
    • Hands-on experience with complex optical systems development. Lab and prototype development experience.
    • Good interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently under pressure.
    • Familiar with camera technologies: CCD, CMOS, PSD. Versed in evaluation criteria and methods.
    • Familiar with a variety of illumination sources and design concepts: lasers, flash lamps, LEDs, halogen source.
